WHO WE ARE &
WHY THIS EXISTS

Last updated:

WaitTimeTruth.com is a consumer advocacy project that tracks how accurate theme park posted wait times really are. We compare what the sign says against what guests actually experience, calculate a posted-to-actual ratio, and publish the results for every major U.S. park.

The project exists because of a simple observation: posted wait times at major theme parks often don't match the actual guest experience. Sometimes by a little, sometimes by a lot. Guests making decisions about Lightning Lane ($15–$35 per ride), Express Pass ($80–$300+ per day), and other skip-the-line purchases deserve to know how accurate the posted time really is before they decide to pay.

THE ECOSYSTEM

WaitTimeTruth is one of several platforms operated by Amusement Standards under the RatingValue.org umbrella brand. Each platform serves a specific function:

🎢
WaitTimeTruth.com
Wait time accuracy tracking. Manual reports + Apple Watch. You are here.
AmusementRating.org
Crowdsourced ops audits. 4-pillar scoring. XP system. Apple Watch app.
📊
RatingValue.org
Umbrella brand. Rating normalization across parks, restaurants, services.

Wait time reports submitted on WaitTimeTruth feed into the broader AmusementRating.org dataset, which tracks not just wait time accuracy but also dispatch efficiency, safety practices, staff engagement, and facility condition. Guests who want to go beyond wait times can create a free AmusementRating.org account and contribute full operations audits.

DATA SOURCES & TRANSPARENCY

Posted wait times are sourced from the Queue-Times.com Real Time API, which pulls directly from parks' official systems and updates every 5 minutes. Queue-Times covers 80+ parks worldwide.

Actual wait times are crowdsourced from guest reports on this site and via the AmusementRating Apple Watch app. All actual wait time data is self-reported and is not independently verified.

Posted-to-actual ratios are mathematical comparisons (posted ÷ actual). They are not assertions about any park's intentions or practices. A ratio above 1.0× means the posted time was higher than the reported actual wait — there are many legitimate operational reasons this can occur. See our full methodology page for details.

EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE

WaitTimeTruth has no advertising, no park sponsorships, no affiliate relationships, and no paid placements. We do not accept compensation from any theme park, ride manufacturer, or skip-the-line product vendor. Our revenue model is built around the broader Amusement Standards ecosystem — not this consumer-facing site.

If a park's posted wait times are accurate, we say so. Cedar Point, Dollywood, and Hersheypark consistently show posted-to-actual ratios near 1.0× and we report that clearly in our Park Accuracy Index.
